I am leaving tomorrow! I've quit my job, moved out of my house, locked up my car and packed all of my belongings with the exception of what I can carry on my pack. Which you wouldn't believe what all I thought I could fit on my back. You should have seen me playing Tetrus trying to fit all of my stuff in my back pack. Never the less I'm ready to go! First stop Portland, Oregon where some friends of mine from New Orleans will be picking myself and two friends up from the airport. From there we will be headed up to Washington for the National Rainbow Gathering. Which essentially is this really great gathering of people held in different national forest in the US the week of July 4th every year. Their purpose is to live in union with nature in celebration of sustainable community, where everyone is family. The gathering in centered around July 4th, where all participants come together for a morning of silence and prayer for peace. We plan to meet up with our NOLA crew and be their for at least a week or two.
From Rainbow we will make our way back up to Portland, visit some friends, then myself and four friends will be heading to South America. We fly into Colombia, plan on spending a good bit of our five week stay in Colombia, and also spend time in Ecuador and possibly Peru. It will be really exciting to be in South America. Although my Spanish is moi moi un poco, I hope to become much better at it over the course of my stay. I plan on immersing myself in the culture and learning and contributing to as much as I possibly can. I'm really excited to have the opportunity for spiritual growth that will be presented to me while I'm there.
South America is not my last stop, I will in the end of August be flying out to Reno, NV to make the long and much anticipated pilgrimage to the notorious Burning Man. Where I can get away with flying my freak flag for an entire week. I am anxiously awaiting the day where I am once again am surrounded by artistic expression, creativity, synchronicity, art cars, no currency exchange, love, dust storms and being doused in playa dust!
After Burning Man is where the real spontaneity comes in. I bought a one way ticket to Reno with the idea of having a no strings attached open-ended adventure. I would like to stay southwest or west coast for a bit to visit friends or WWOOF on an organic farm. Who knows where the wind will take me. This is all part of the fun in taking an open-ended trip.
I girl scouts honor to try and make an effort to update with pictures and stories as much as I can. We'll see how my very computer challenged self will do trying to operate a Spanish one in South America! Until next time, keep your figures crossed that I get all of my luggage on the plane tomorrow! xo
may the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you. XOXO
